United Kingdom, May 14 -- Sharon Stone's older brother has died.

The Basic Instinct star - who has adopted sons Roan, 25, Laird, 21, and 19-year-old Quinn - has paid tribute to Mike Stone after he passed away "following an extended illness" at the age of 74.

Sharing a photo of Mike on Instagram, Sharon wrote: "Mike Stone, My oldest brother, Has passed away.

"Following an extended illness.

"We wish him peace. Sharon, Roan, Laird + Quinn (sic)"

Mike was also an actor and, as well as roles in 1990s films Eraser and Malevolence, he appeared alongside his sister in 1995 Western The Quick and the Dead.

The tragic news comes three years after Sharon's younger brother, Patrick Stone, died at the age of 57 after suffering a heart attack.
