United Kingdom, Aug. 27 -- Sean Penn told John Leguizamo his then-wife Madonna had a crush on him.

The two actors were shooting 1989 war drama Casualties of War when Sean made a confession to his stunned co-star, who got his start in the industry as an extra in the Vogue hitmaker's music video for her single Borderline.

John recalled to Kelly Ripa on the latest episode of her Let's Talk Off Camera podcast: "I was like, 'What? Oh, wow. Word.

"But I was otherwise engaged. But so was she, because she was married to Sean."

Sean and Madonna married in 1985 but divorced in January 1989, months before the release of Casualties of War.
