United Kingdom, July 1 -- Sam Smith still feels "gutted" they didn't become a fishmonger.

The 34-year-old star is best known for being a hit singer-songwriter, but the Money on My Mind hitmaker could've been in a very different plaice in their life if they had worked with fish, which Sam finds "very calming" to handle.

Speaking on the Dish podcast, they said: "I'm still gutted I'm not a fishmonger.

"Honestly, I used to go to Waitrose a lot as a kid and the fish section, I just loved.

"I like to handle fish. It felt very calming."

Sam now lives in New York, and they admitted one of the "disasters" about being away from England is missing out on traditional British fish and chips.
