United Kingdom, July 13 -- Richard E. Grant has led tributes to Sam Neill after the actor's tragic death aged 78.

Sam was taken to hospital in Sydney, Australia, on Monday (13.07.26), where he died "suddenly" and "unexpectedly", according to a statement from his family published on his Instagram page.

Following news of the actor's untimely passing, his Hollywood friends flocked to social media to share tributes to the Jurassic Park star, with Richard leading the way.

Sharing a series of photos of Neill on his Instagram page, Richard wrote: "Knew @samneilltheprop for 3 decades and finally worked with him on PALM BEACH in 2018.

"An officer and a Gentleman in the truest sense."
