United Kingdom, July 27 -- Oliver Tree's mother has revealed what she spoke to her son about in their last conversation before his tragic death.

The 32-year-old musician was one of six victims of a helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June (26).

His mother Christine Begin Nickell was one of the speakers at a memorial event in California on Saturday (25.07.26), and told the crowd that she'd sent him a text message the day before the crash to ask how he was getting on in his bid to quit smoking, adding that he'd "promised he would give it up once he was on tour".

Christine said: "He FaceTimed me immediately and let out a huge puff of cigarette smoke in my face - but he was so happy and excited about life that day."
