United Kingdom, May 24 -- Nicola Roberts has announced the birth of her first child.

Revealing she and fiance Mitch Hahn have welcomed a baby daughter just months after the Girls Aloud star underwent surgery during pregnancy to help keep her baby "in", Nicola, 40, shared the news on Instagram on Sunday (24.05.26) alongside a series of photographs showing the singer cradling her newborn daughter and Mitch, 37, leaving hospital carrying the baby.

The singer - best known as a member of chart-topping pop group Girls Aloud - said her daughter arrived "a couple of weeks ago" at 38 weeks weighing 6.5lbs.
