United Kingdom, June 27 -- Nia Long spurned Prince's advances - because she didn't recognise him.

The Michael actress ran into the late Purple Rain hitmaker at a part before she found fame herself, and when he tried to "grab" her hand and speak to her, she turned away.

Speaking on the Angie Martinez IRL podcast, she said: "I still have my Kenneth Cole black snake embossed shoes that I wore when Prince tried to talk to me...

"I didn't know it was Prince."
