United Kingdom, May 5 -- Meryl Streep never attends the Met Gala because "it has never quite been her scene".

The 76-year-old actress plays Miranda Priestly, a demanding fashion magazine editor, in the Devil Wears Prada film franchise, but she's frequently rejected the chance to attend the Met Gala, the annual haute couture fundraising event in New York City.

A spokesperson for the Hollywood star - who appears in The Devil Wears Prada 2 alongside Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, and Simone Ashley - told People: "Meryl has been invited to the Met Gala for many years but has never attended.
