United Kingdom, May 14 -- Matthew Rhys has got into "heated" rows with strangers over their refusal to use headphones in public.

The Americans actor - who lives in Brooklyn, New York, with partner Keri Russell, their nine-year-old son Sam, and her two kids from a previous relationship - thinks it is important to "school" people in behaving with consideration around other people, but admitted people get "offended" when asked to be quieter.

He told the Wall Street Journal: "What is driving me bananas these days are people who watch things on their phones without headphones. I'm turning into my dad, but I feel like I have to start saying to people, 'Excuse me, do you have headphones?'
