United Kingdom, Aug. 13 -- Muse star Matt Bellamy has filed for divorce from wife Elle Evans.

The 48-year-old singer didn't list a date of separation in the summons filed in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday (12.08.26), but cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the break-up.

He is also seeking sole custody of his and Elle's children - Lovella, six, and two-year-old son George.

In addition, Matt referred to the former couple's premarital agreement as he asked the court to give Elle spousal support.

Elle, 46, now has 30 days to respond to the filing, but told TMZ she's planning to contest Matt's custody request, and fight for custody of their kids herself.
