United Kingdom, March 10 -- Liza Minnelli has revealed details of a turbulent relationship with filmmaker Martin Scorsese.

The 79-year-old actress and singer uses her new memoir to describe their fling, which she said happened during the making of their 1977 musical film New York, New York, and which she describes as a secret affair shaped by volatile emotions and escalating drug use.

Liza says in her memoir Kids, Wait Till You Hear This! about falling for director Martin, now 83, while they were working together on the film and he was deep in drug abuse: "As we filmed, Marty became a heavier and heavier user of cocaine.
