United Kingdom, Sept. 14 -- Lily Allen is grateful for David Harbour's "generous" response to her West End Girl album.

The 41-year-old singer's recent record was inspired by her split from the Stranger Things actor, though she has insisted the lyrics are a "mixture of fact and fiction", and when he was asked about his own feelings on the album, David insisted he "respected" his ex-wife for using her experiences to "create art".

He told Variety: "I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that."

Asked about his comments, Lily told The Cut: "I think that was a generous thing for him to say."
