The 43-year-old singer has lavished praise on PinkPantheress, admitting to being wowed by her musical talent.

Kelela told TIME: "I was instantly floored the first time I heard PinkPantheress.

"People on Twitter had already been joking that she was my daughter, so I immediately had to hear it for myself. What I found is an artist who already knows exactly who she is.

"I understood why people were making the connection between us, but also why it was reductive to stop there because she's not an extension of anybody."
