United Kingdom, June 4 -- Paris Hilton's mum Kathy has been axed as grand marshall of the West Hollywood Pride Parade, after backlash from the LGBTQ+ community.

The matriarch previous took on the role with Paris back in 2005 and had been announced to helm this year's event.

However, following the announcement, countless people took to their social media pages to object - citing Kathy's friendship with US President Donald Trump as one of the main reasons.

One person sarcastically wrote: "Melania Trump not available?"

Another asked: "I ask sincerely-what has this lady done for the LGBT+ community??"

While a third asked the organisers of the event to cancel the booking writing: "@wehopride it's not too late to take this back."
