United Kingdom, May 22 -- Kathy Griffin spent the night in hospital after suffering "complications" following a routine medical procedure.

The 65-year-old comic didn't explain why she had undergone a colonoscopy - an examination of the large intestine - or what had gone wrong that led to her having to stay at the medical facility, but she is now back at home with her beloved four dogs.

She wrote on Instagram: "Well, the sound got screwed up but I made this video for you guys because I'm TMI anyway.

"I spent the night in hospital because I had complications from my colonoscopy.

"I know, I know, very sexy but I am home now with the doggies where I belong."
