United Kingdom, May 13 -- Hayden Panettiere viewed her mom as her "boss" during her younger years.

The 36-year-old actress began her full-time career in 1994, when she played Sarah Roberts in the soap opera series One Life to Live, and Hayden has now recalled developing a business-like relationship with her mother, Lesley Vogel, who managed her career at the time.

The actress - who has also starred in TV shows such as Nashville and Heroes - told the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast: "Everything was business. I became the confidant and the assistant and the therapist and the shoulder to cry on and everything but her child."
