United Kingdom, March 9 -- Gene Hackman and his wife's joint resting place is marked only by a conch.

Two-time Oscar-winning actor Gene, who died aged 95, lies buried beside his partner Betsy Arakawa, 65, beneath a tree in a quiet plot in Santa Fe, New Mexico, it has been reported.

The Daily Mail carried a picture of the spot, highlighting how the grave is in place more than a year after Gene's death, without a plaque or visible tributes.

Gene and Betsy were found dead in their Santa Fe home by maintenance workers on 26 February last year.

According to the Santa Fe medical examiner, Betsy died first after contracting hantavirus, a respiratory illness linked to rodents.
