United Kingdom, May 5 -- Cher joked she "upset" people with her "naked" Met Gala dress 52 years ago but now it's become a trend.

The Believe hitmaker stepped out at the star studded fashion event in New York City for the first time in a decade on Monday (05.04.26), and she paid tribute to her very first Met Gala look from 1974, when she appeared in a sheer gown by Bob Mackie.

Speaking to La La Anthony on Vogue magazine's Met Gala live stream, she quipped: "At the first Met Gala I was naked, and so people were upset about it.

"But now people wouldn't even give it a thought... But I was real skinny so there was nothing really showing.

"Well, that's not exactly true, but it wasn't much!"
