United Kingdom, Oct. 17 -- Carly Rae Jepsen has found motherhood to be a "fascinating" experience.

The 40-year-old pop star has a seven-month-old son called Ilya with her husband, music producer Cole M.G.N, and Carly has now opened up about the challenges of motherhood.

Asked what it's like being a first-time mom, Carly told The Independent: "If I could describe it in one word . fascinating. It's fascinating to see how every single day he changes. I wake up and he's found a new facial expression, he's becoming his own person. I love it."

Carly feels fortunate that Ilya is a "super chill baby".

The pop singer travels a lot with her family and other passengers are often struck by Ilya's good behaviour.
