United Kingdom, March 15 -- The star of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot has spoken out after it was axed by Hulu.

Ryan Kiera Armstrong, 16, shared her disappointment after star Sarah Michelle Gellar announced the "sad" news that the network is no longer moving forward with the show.

Ryan said on Instagram Stories: "I'm sure many of you have already heard the news by now. I wanted to come on here and say thank you for all of the support that you guys have given me and this show throughout the last couple months. It's been really special."

Fighting back tears, she said she was "really proud" of the project and disappointed that fans will not get to see it.
