United Kingdom, Aug. 22 -- Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's daughter Vivienne has taken the next step towards dropping the surname Pitt.

Vivienne filed the initial petition to change her legal name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie in Los Angeles County Superior Court on July 21, less than two weeks after she and her twin brother Knox turned 18.

Now, PEOPLE reports that she has obtained proof of publication after publishing a legal notice in the Los Angeles Daily Journal on July 24, July 31, Aug. 7 and Aug. 14.

This is a required step for a name change under California law.
