United Kingdom, Sept. 9 -- Andrew Garfield has gone "sober from social media".

The 43-year-old actor has revealed he made the decision to step back from online life a few weeks ago, and so he missed the drama around his new film The Uprising being temporarily promoted as a Robin Hood origin story.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: "This all went over my head a little bit. I'm three weeks sober from social media.

"It feels really weird, but good. So [the marketing kerfuffle] passed me by a little bit, but I really trust Focus.

"I trust [director] Paul [Greengrass]. I trust this film to find the people that it's meant to find."

The movie is set during the Peasants' Revolt of the 1380s, and stars Andrew as grieving farmer Ploughman.
