United Kingdom, Sept. 16 -- Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski have split after nine years of marriage.

The 40-year-old actress and Thomas, 50, have been separated "for a while" and they consider the split to be the best move for their family.

In a statement given to People, the former couple said: "We have been separated for a while, and it's proven to be the right move for us and our family unit. We've got each other forever - and it's good."

Amanda and Thomas met for the first time back in 2015, when they worked together on The Way We Get By, an off-Broadway play.

They got engaged later that year, before eloping in 2017.
