United Kingdom, March 11 -- Wiz Khalifa has blasted Scream 7 for trying to capitalise on "AI and deepfake".

The 38-year-old rapper has hit out at the newest instalment in the iconic horror franchise - which has often explored trends and societal issues - after Matthew Lillard returned to play an AI deepfake version of his deceased character Stu Macher.

Speaking on The Sesh livestream, Wiz said: "Yeah, I went and seen Scream. That s*** was trash, bro. The thing that was trash about it was the use of AI and deepfake.

"That s*** was trash. I don't know if y'all have seen it yet, but you can tell some writer just was like, 'We have to add this.' And that s*** is so forced and f****** corny, bro."
