India, Aug. 15 -- McLaren has unveiled the McL 6GT concept at Monterey Car Week and it will be the brand's first road car with a manual gearbox since the F1. The McL 6GT takes its name from Bruce McLaren's unfinished M6GT project and uses a V8 engine, carbon-fibre monocoque and rear-wheel drive. McLaren has also used hydraulic steering and physical controls inside the cabin. The production model will sit above the company's current sports car and supercar range.

As mentioned, the McL 6GT name comes from Bruce McLaren's M6GT project from the 1960s. The original car was based on the M6A Can-Am racer and was developed as a road-going model.
