India, Aug. 14 -- Koenigsegg has unveiled the new CCGT1 at Monterey, reviving the name of its ambitious CCGT GT1 race project from the 2000s. The new model is based on the CC850, but gets extensive changes to its bodywork, aerodynamics, cooling and drivetrain to give it a stronger track focus. It remains road legal in standard form, yet can be equipped with Koenigsegg's first factory-designed track package. Production is limited to 70 cars, and the company says all examples have already been allocated.

The CCGT1 is essentially a modern interpretation of the original CCGT, which was developed for GT1 endurance racing. The original car weighed around 1,000kg and used a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 targeting 591.7bhp. Its racing program...
