India, April 1 -- Freelander Concept 97 unveiled as an EV SUV with Defender-inspired design, marking the return of the Freelander brand with a modern approach and new identity.

The Land Rover Freelander is back, but this time it takes a different route. Jaguar Land Rover has partnered with Chery to bring the badge back through a joint venture. The Concept 97 leads this comeback and previews a new range of electric SUVs. The earlier Freelander was known for its off-road ability, but this new version shifts focus to electric mobility and a wider global market. Production will take place at the joint venture facility in Changshu, China. For now, these new Freelander models are mainly aimed at the Chinese market.
