New Delhi, July 29 -- BYD appears to be preparing for a new addition to its EV portfolio in India, as a camouflaged electric SUV, believed to be the Atto 2, was recently spotted undergoing road tests. This marks the model's first appearance on Indian roads and hints at a potential launch in the coming months. Positioned below the Atto 3 in the brand's lineup, the Atto 2 is expected to rival upcoming compact EVs such as the Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, and Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara. Sold globally under names like Yuan Up and Yuan Pro, the Atto 2 is based on BYD's e-platform 3.0 and is equipped with a 45.1kWh Blade battery and a motor that produces around 175bhp. It promises a real-world driving range of up to 400 km.
