CANBERRA, ACT, March 3 -- Australian Federal Police issued the following media release:

A West Australian man has been sentenced to three years and six months' imprisonment for transmitting child abuse material.

The man, 69, was sentenced by the Perth District Court on Friday (27 February, 2026) and was ordered to serve 12 months in custody. He will then be released on a recognisance order to be of good behaviour for 18 months.

The Heathridge man had previously pleaded guilty to 13 counts of using a carriage service to transmit child abuse material, contrary to section 474.22(1) of the Criminal Code (Cth).
