CANBERRA, ACT, July 21 -- Australian Federal Police issued the following media release:

A West Australian man was sentenced to a maximum of two years and 11 months' imprisonment by the Geraldton District Court yesterday (20 July, 2026) for possessing and transmitting child abuse material.

The man, 38, will be eligible for parole after serving a period of 18 months.

The Rangeway man was sentenced following an AFP investigation into his uploading of child abuse material to online chats.

He was charged with eighteen offences:

* Nine counts of using a carriage service for child abuse material, contrary to section 474.22(1) of the Criminal Code (Cth);* Two counts of caused child abuse material to be transmitted...
