CANBERRA, ACT, July 18 -- Australian Federal Police issued the following media release:
A Queensland man has been charged with allegedly threatening a federal parliamentarian.
The AFP's National Security Investigations (NSI) team started an investigation in July, 2026, into voice messages that allegedly contained threats to a parliamentarian.
The AFP will allege it traced the messages to a Coomera man, 57.
The AFP executed a search warrant at a Coomera home on 16 July, 2026, where investigators will allege they obtained evidence of the offence on his device.
The man was charged with one count of threatening to cause harm to a public official, contrary to section 147.2(2) of the Criminal Code (Cth). The offence carries a maximum penalty...
