CANBERRA, ACT, June 24 -- Australian Federal Police issued the following media release:
A Sydney man has faced Parramatta Local Court today (24 June, 2026), charged with allegedly sending offensive emails to a Commonwealth official.
The AFP's National Security Investigations (NSI) team began an investigation in May 2026, after a series of emails were sent to a Commonwealth official between February and May 2026.
Police linked the man, 43, to the alleged abusive emails and arrested him at a Wentworthville home yesterday (23 June, 2026).
The man was charged with one count of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence, contrary to section 474.1(1) of the Criminal Code (Cth).
