Kolkata, Sept. 5 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday reviewed the flood and erosion situation in Malda and highlighted three separate but concurrent issues confronting the state -- riverbank erosion in the Manikchak and Ratua areas, downstream flooding following the release of water from the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), and subsidence of railway tracks near New Farakka station in Malda.

Addressing a press conference on the flood situation in Malda, Adhikari said riverbank erosion in the Manikchak and Ratua areas is an annual problem and requires a permanent solution.
