Waiting for preferential tariff for our exports: Piyush Goyal on India-US FTA
Mumbai, Sept. 4 -- India and the United States have closed negotiations on the first tranche of their bilateral trade agreement, but the deal is awaiting a framework from Washington that would provide India with a preferential tariff for its exports to the US, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the India-Belgium High-Level Dialogue on the India-EU Free Trade Agreement in Mumbai, Goyal said the first tranche of the India-US bilateral trade agreement would reflect an initial set of proposals agreed between the two countries.
