W Bengal nod for reconnaissance survey to assess Jhargram manganese reserves
Jhargram, Sept. 1 -- Manganese reserves in the Jhargram district of West Bengal will undergo a formal assessment following official clearance for a comprehensive mineral exploration drive across multiple prospective belts in the region.
The initiative follows the earlier Ashoknagar oilfield development, marking another mineral investigation effort within the State. The Directorate of Mines & Minerals, Government of West Bengal, granted the formal approval to examine the manganese-bearing areas, with fieldwork scheduled for September 15 -19, 2026.
According to an official communication from the Directorate of Mines & Minerals, the competent authority evaluated and sanctioned the proposal for fieldwork.
