Tashkent, Aug. 30 -- Uzbekistan on Sunday reaffirmed its support for India's candidature for permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), while both nations have also agreed to establish a Foreign Ministers-led mechanism to oversee the implementation of bilateral agreements and strengthen cooperation under the Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism.

The decisions were announced in the Joint Statement issued during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit to Uzbekistan from August 29 to August 30, following his talks with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev earlier in the day.
