US yields, rising inflation may push RBI towards rate hike later this year: Deloitte Chief Economist
New Delhi, Sept. 22 -- The Reserve Bank of India may consider raising interest rates later this year as higher US bond yields threaten to make Indian assets less attractive to global investors and rising food prices add to inflation pressures, Deloitte Chief Economist Rumki Majumdar said.
Majumdar said the RBI faces a difficult policy choice as strong domestic credit growth argues against a rate hike, while higher yields in the US and rising inflation could force it to act to support capital flows and keep price pressures under control.
