Washington DC, July 1 -- The United States on Tuesday (local time) declined to renew the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) in its current form after a mandatory joint review with Mexico and Canada, saying the pact would nevertheless remain in force while the three countries work to resolve outstanding issues.

The development came after representatives of the three countries met virtually as part of the USMCA's six-year joint review mechanism, which requires the parties to assess the operation of the agreement and determine whether to extend it.
