US Open 2026: Alexander Zverev completes Grand Slam QF sweep, sets up van de Zandschulp clash
New York, Sept. 8 -- Top seed Alexander Zverev completed a career-first sweep of Grand Slam quarter-final appearances in a season after defeating Luciano Darderi in straight sets at the US Open on Monday (local time), setting up a last-eight clash with Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp.
Zverev, the 2026 Roland Garros champion, defeated 21st seed Darderi 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(3) in two hours and 31 minutes to become the only man to reach the quarter-finals at all four majors this year, according to the ATP website.
