New Delhi, Oct. 12 -- The standoff between the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the opposition over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls escalated on Monday as thousands flooded the streets of the national capital for a high-profile march to the Supreme Court, led by Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi. The demonstrations culminated in a formal petition filed by 11 INDIA bloc leaders challenging the poll panel.
