Hyderabad, June 5 -- On the occasion of World Environment Day, a group of citizens staged a funeral protest in front of Kasu Brahmananda Reddy (KBR) National Park in Hyderabad, demanding that the Telangana government withdraw its decision to undertake road-widening works around the park.

Earlier in May, the Supreme Court put a stay on the felling of trees in the eco-sensitive zone surrounding the Kasu Brahmananda Reddy (KBR) National Park in Hyderabad.

A bench of Justices BV Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan passed the interim direction and ordered that there should be no tree felling within a 25 to 35 metres Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ) around the part.
