Taipei, Sept. 11 -- A Taiwan businessman was sentenced to 10 years and six months in prison for helping develop an organisation for the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) "united front" authorities, while a retired Executive Yuan official was sentenced to five years for attempting to carry out similar recruitment activities, according to a Taipei Times report.

The High Court handed down the sentences yesterday, with the ruling subject to appeal, the report said.
