New Delhi, July 28 -- Southern Railway has accorded the highest priority to the movement of fertilisers in view of the requirement of farmers during the Kharif sowing season. During the first quarter of the current financial year, from April to June 2026-27, Southern Railway loaded 13.7 lakh tonnes of fertilisers.

According to the press release by the Southern Railway, this represents a growth of 7 per cent over the corresponding period of the previous financial year 2025-26, and reflects the sustained capacity of the Railways to move fertilizers to the hinterland in step with the progress of the sowing season.

There has been no issue whatsoever regarding the availability of railway rakes for fertiliser traffic in its jurisdiction. Rake...
