New Delhi, Sept. 21 -- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Monday approached the Supreme Court seeking clarification on its May 19 judgment on stray animals, particularly a direction requiring it to put in place a mechanism to deal with stray cattle and other animals on national highways and expressways.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta mentioned the application before a bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant for urgent listing.

The CJI agreed to place it before the special Bench that had passed the original directions.
