SC says Ayodhya trust SIT status report cannot be made public at this stage; allows petitioners to submit suggestions
New Delhi, Aug. 17 -- The Supreme Court on Monday said the status report submitted by the Uttar Pradesh government on the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into alleged financial irregularities and misappropriation of donations received by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust cannot be shared with petitioners or other persons at this stage.
The Court, however, permitted the petitioners and other public-spirited persons to submit suggestions concerning the investigation to the office of the Solicitor General, which would place them before the SIT for consideration.
A bench led by CJI Surya Kant has directed the newly constituted SIT to submit a status report in the next date of hearing.
