Silchar, March 27 -- Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW), Sarbananda Sonowal launched his political campaign for the Assam Assembly Elections 2026 from the Barak Valley, asserting that the region has transformed from "an isolated island of neglect" into a "gateway to Southeast Asia" under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing massive gatherings at Doloo Tea Estate and in Silchar on Friday, Sonowal underscored the BJP's vision of "Samanyay" , integration of Barak, Brahmaputra, Hills, and plains as the foundation of Assam's holistic development.
