Gandhinagar, Oct. 5 -- Women from Gujarat's Sakhi Mandals, or self-help groups, have recorded sales of over Rs 39 crore through 236 SARAS Melas organised across Gujarat over the last five years, according to the Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company Limited (GLPC).

The fairs provide women from Sakhi Mandals with a platform to showcase and sell their products and access wider markets.

Over 8,500 self-help groups have participated in the 236 fairs, recording total sales of more than Rs 39.06 crore.

The SARAS Mela initiative is being implemented by GLPC as part of various measures undertaken by the Gujarat government for the economic participation of women and is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'...
