Colombo, Aug. 24 -- Indian wicketkeeper/batter Rishabh Pant continued his remarkable ascent through India's Test record books on Monday, surpassing captain Shubman Gill to become the country's highest run-scorer in ICC World Test Championship history.

Pant achieved this feat during India's 2nd Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Pant made 63 runs before he was dismissed by Keshara Nuwantha on the first ball of the second session.

Pant now has 2,948 runs from 42 Tests in the World Test Championship, moving past Gill's 2,917 from the same number of matches.
