RBI issues final Basel III market risk capital rules for banks, to take effect from April 2027
New Delhi, Sept. 21 -- Commercial banks will have until April 1, 2027, to adopt the Reserve Bank of India's revised framework for minimum capital requirements for market risk, with the central bank issuing final directions aimed at aligning Indian regulations with the revised Basel III standards while retaining simplicity and flexibility in implementation.
The RBI on Monday issued the Reserve Bank of India (Commercial Banks - Minimum Capital Requirements for Market Risk) Directions, 2026, after examining feedback received on draft guidelines issued in February 2023.
