Rameswaram, Aug. 2 -- The 460th anniversary festival of the Holy Sengol Matha shrine was celebrated in a grand manner at Sudukattanpatti in Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram, with a large number of devotees participating in the festivities.

The celebrations began with the flag-hoisting ceremony following the consecration of the renovated temple on July 31.

The event was led by the Bishop of Sivagangai Diocese, L Lourdu Anandam.

The highlight of the festival was the grand chariot procession held on Saturday night. Three specially decorated and illuminated chariots were taken out as part of the celebration, attracting a large gathering of devotees.
